"We are almost ready to start the safety improvement work on various parts of the ground, including the Millhouse stand and terracing. All that needs to be finalised is the best start date for all concerned, taking into account the fact that parts of the ground will need to be closed at various times. This should all be decided in the next couple of weeks" - Ken Hodcroft 28/8/99.

The Victoria Park is no longer the home of West Hartlepool Rugby Union Club. West have moved out of the Vic and into neighbours Hartlepool Rovers ground, The Friarage. West lasted only one year at the Vic. Relations between Pool and West were tense shall we say! the quality of the pitch, arguments over debts and West's relegation and subsequent return to part time rugby forced the move away from the Vic. West's crippling debts forced them to sell their land at Brierton Lane to a local building firm who are working on a new housing estate. West long term plan is to build a new all seater 6000 capacity stadium on the edge of town. However this seems a very long way off at the moment. Initially some of the West faithful were very reluctant on the move to the Vic saying West where deserting their grass roots. Homeless West are now on the move again.

Pools reserves have therefore returned to Victoria Park and will play home games on Wednesday nights (KO 7pm).

Stand names and sizes

Right then how about a few directions :

From West, come right across the A689 (which goes all the way in to the town centre). See in town directions.

From South, get yourself onto the A19 and look for signs of Hartlepool (A689) come off that slip road and follow the A689 into the town. See in town directions.

In town directions, Easy really follow this sequence,
1) Through traffic lights No.1 (landmark = huge traffic light across road),
2) Through traffic lights No.2 (landmark = Truro Drive on left),
3) Over roundabout No.1 (landmark = Owton Lodge Pub on right)
4) Through traffic lights No.3 (landmark = Straight after last roundabout),
5) Through traffic lights No.4 (landmark = two petrol stations on either side of road just before lights)
6) Over roundabouts No.2 second exit (landmark = Shell petrol station on left),
7) At next roundabout take the second exit (landmark = Tesco on right just before roundabout, McDonald's and Comet just after roundabout)
8) And the next roundabout take the second exit, (landmark = Firestation just before roundabout),
9) Straight over the next set of traffic lights (landmark = Wesley Square, Hartlepool Mail Office),

The away supporters entrance is on Clarence Road (where the posh looking railings are) your turnstiles are 1 & 2 for the seats behind the goal. Enjoy ! (but not to much!).
